One of the main tasks of the Bureau of Metrology is to establish, keep and maintain national standards, and with calibration and inter-laboratory comparisons to ensure their traceability. The main task of the Bureau is to provide traceability of the measurement results of the measuring instruments to certain references, usually national or international standards, through the unbroken chain of comparisons. Traceability of the standards of the Bureau of Metrology is maintained by their regular calibration in national metrological institutes, directly traceable to international measurement standards, and the competence of national laboratories is proved by their participation in the work of technical committees of EURAMET and its inter-comparisons. Since 2007, the Bureau of Metrology is a signatory of the CIPM MRA - Arrangement for acceptance of calibration certificates issued by the signatories of this agreement, under the authority of the International Committee of weights and measures (CIPM), as a body within the Meter Convention. The purpose of CIPM MRA is to establish a degree of equivalence of national measurement standards maintained by NMIs, to ensure mutual recognition of calibration and measurement certificates issued by the NMIs, and thus to ensure transparent technical basis for overcoming the technical barriers to international trade. Bureau of Metrology disseminates values of measurement units, through calibration in the national metrological laboratories and issues calibration certificates, under CIPM-MRA as one of signatory. Below, the structure of National Metrology Laboratories is shown along with their calibration capabilities.
